Pass - Students are writing passes backwards to avoid the system limits

We understand how frustrating it can be when students discover clever workarounds—such as creating passes "backwards"—to circumvent building location or capacity limits. This guide outlines two effective strategies to address and prevent this behavior: immediate staff verification and using the Auto Pass feature.

Staff Verification (First Line of Defense)

The quickest way to curb this behavior is to establish clear expectations with your teaching staff. Taking a few extra seconds to inspect a pass before a student leaves the room can completely disrupt this student workaround.

  • Verify Pass Directions: When a student creates a pass, teachers should check the From and To locations displayed on their teacher Dashboard or directly on the student's device.

  • Reject Incorrect Passes: If a student has manipulated the From location to bypass a limit, the teacher should immediately click Cancel to reject the erroneous pass before the student is permitted to leave the classroom.

Additional Option - Configure Auto Pass

For a more permanent, automated restriction, administrators and teachers can work together to configure the Auto Pass feature. This setup ensures that any unauthorized or reversed pass route automatically triggers a request for manual teacher approval.

Step 1: Administrator Configuration

  • Under the admin Control Panel>System Settings>Auto Pass, select all restrooms, locker rooms, or other frequently abused areas as Auto Pass locations for the entire building.

Step 2: Teacher Configuration

  • Open Auto Pass tile settings on dashboard, and select only the specific locations that are relevant and permitted for your individual classroom.

How This Prevents Abuse

Once this is configured, if a student attempts to reverse a pass or choose a restricted location to bypass limits, the system will block the automatic generation and require explicit manual approval from the teacher thus giving staff the ability catch the misuse.
