Filter - Installing the Securly SSL certificate

This page contains links to step-by-step instructions and a downloadable SSL certificate that should be installed for a seamless experience on different operating systems and browsers. Installing the SSL certificate ensures that Securly Filter can filter all HTTPS sites without the end user receiving an SSL error.

To learn what cluster you are on, see this support article.

You can also deploy the Securly SSL certificate en masse via Device Management. This is the preferred deployment method as it ensures all managed devices receive the trusted SSL certificate.

The following articles explain how to create MDM payloads which install the Securly SSL Certificate and SmartPAC. If your macOS and iOS devices aren't filtered by SmartPAC you can still follow the support articles below and omit the steps for installing SmartPAC.

Our SSL certificates are available in all formats in the following support article.

If you are responsible for BYOD in your environment, we have created two intelligent landing pages to which you can point your BYOD users. These pages will detect the user's OS and present the appropriate SSL certificate for them to download, and a link to manual installation instructions. Many schools set these pages set as the first page anyone receives when connecting to BYOD wireless networks.

There are two URLs available and it's important to understand their differences.

When you navigate to www.securly.com/ssl, this page will present the end-user with the Securly SSL Certificate which expires in 2034.
