Aware - Securly Aware Overview: Features and FAQs

Securly Aware is the next evolution in student safety and wellness. Building on the proven AI reporting and alerting of Securly Aware, it adds powerful capabilities for student services and safety teams. With Aware, you can:

  • Know who’s at risk of self-harm, suicide, depression, violence, and bullying
  • Proactively support students who demonstrate concerning behaviors
  • Gain a clear picture of each student’s current wellness level
  • Intervene quickly when wellness levels drop
  • Case Manager to and manage alerts efficiently and effectively

You’ll get access to student wellness features in Aware that we think your student services teams will find invaluable. These features include:

Wellness Levels

Know each student’s emotional well-being level with color-coded wellness levels.
Wellness levels are an evidence-based tool to help you easily identify at-risk students and respond proactively if levels change for the worse.

Wellness Pathways Widget

When a student’s Wellness Level drops, the student will be presented with a pop-up message containing links to helpful resources defined by you.
You’ll find settings for the Wellness Pathways Widget under Account Settings in the upper left of the Aware interface.

Think Twice — Bullying Intervention

When harmful or threatening language is detected in an email or social post a student is composing, the student will be prompted with a pop-up message encouraging them to reconsider before sending.
You’ll find settings for Think Twice under Account Settings in the upper left of the new Aware interface.

Case Manager (formerly Securly Respond)

The Case Manager — the same platform that’s been battle-tested and refined by Securly On-Call expert analysts — also comes with Aware. When Case Manager is enabled, each flagged alert that is generated by Aware creates a case in Case Manager, or appends that alert to an existing case if one already exists. Case Manager makes it easy to assign cases to appropriate staff members. If you are an On-Call customer, you can also respond and manage cases with the help of the On-Call team. More information about this here.

What should I know if I'm only using Aware without Filter?

You will be able to deploy the Securly Chrome extension to enable Aware to analyze student browsing data. For information on deploying the Chrome extensions, see these articles:

If I have Securly On-Call, can I use Case Manager?

Yes! Both On-Call and Case Manager can work side-by-side. The On-Call team analyzes all cases. In Case Manager, non-urgent cases are verified and display a badge to indicate that they’ve been verified by On-Call. When the On-Call team identifies an extreme risk, they will deliver notifications to your designated contacts immediately by email and phone/text (just like we do for On-Call-only customers).

This allows you to manage cases with zero false positives, and ensure you always know when a student is in immediate need of support.
