Classroom - How does Classroom handle a student with multiple devices?

When a student in a class session is logged in on multiple devices, Classroom displays each device separately. Here’s how this works in different scenarios.

Student selection

Each device a student is logged into will appear separately. A number is shown after the student’s name to indicate which device is being monitored. Example: If "Ava Kim" is logged in on two devices, one of the devices will appear as "Ava Kim (2)", as shown here.

You cannot select only one of the devices a student is logged in on to monitor. Unselecting (or selecting) one device will unselect the other as well.

Grid view

During class, students on more than one device will show more than one thumbnail, with a number after the students name for additional devices.

Selecting any of the student cards will automatically select all of that student’s devices, and teacher tools like Push URL will apply to all their devices.

Group view

All of a student’s device thumbnails will appear next to each other as in other views.

Seating Chart view

A student logged in on multiple devices will have a placeholder in the space they would normally appear in the seating chart. All of that student’s devices will appear as thumbnails at the bottom of the screen.

This bottom section is also used for students who are in the class but haven’t been added to the seating chart.
