Filter - Why did the SmartPAC URL change and how do I update my filtering?

Securly has updated its infrastructure to improve performance and reliability. As part of this change, SmartPAC URLs are moving to new cluster-based formats. This article explains what changed and what you need to do to ensure your filtering continues working properly.

Why did the URL change?

The SmartPAC URL change is part of infrastructure updates designed to improve performance and increase security for Securly Filter. The old host-based URLs are being replaced with new cluster-based URLs.

What do I need to do?

Update the host part of your SmartPAC URL in your client deployments to the new cluster-based format:
https://www-filter.<clusterID>.securly.com/smart.pac?fid=securly@<yourschool.domain>

Use the list below to find your new URL based on your current URL:

  • useast-www.securly.com > www-filter.c2.securly.com
  • useast2-www.securly.com > www-filter.c3.securly.com
  • www.securly.com > www-filter.c4.securly.com
  • ca-www.securly.com > www-filter.c5.securly.com
  • uk-www.securly.com > www-filter.c6.securly.com

Do I need to update all devices at once?

No. You can keep using the old URL without any issues, and it is fine to have a mix of devices using both the old and new URLs. Updating to the new URL is recommended, but you can roll it out at your own pace.

Need help?

If you experience any issues after updating, contact our Support Team and revert to your previous SmartPAC URL. If you need help planning the update across your deployment, reach out to your Customer Success Manager.
