Rhithm - Installing the Rhithm Chrome extension

Rhithm's Chrome extension allows students to complete their Rhithm check-ins from their browsers without needing to navigate or log in to the web app. As an IT administrator, you can deploy this extension across your organization using the extension ID and source URL.

If you'd like to install this extension for certain students only, we recommend creating a group or using the relevant organization unit during the install process. 

1. From the Admin console home page, go to Devices > Chrome
2. Click Apps & extensions > Users & browsers
   • To apply the setting to a specific group only, do the following:
     1. 1. Select Groups
        2. Select the group to which you want to apply the setting
   • To apply the setting to all users and enrolled browsers, leave the top organizational unit selected. Otherwise, select a child organizational unit
3. Click Add Chrome app or extension by ID and do the following:
   • Enter this Extension ID: ngpfomjchfpkdadfaejooohfjmnnphbj
   • Select "From a custom URL"
   • Enter this URL: https://cdn.rhithm.app/chromeextnprod/extensions.xml
   • Click "Save"
     
4. Click Additional settings 
   • Enter this URL under App and extension install sources: https://cdn.rhithm.app/*
     
5. Under Installation policy, choose Force install or Force install + pin
   
6. Click Save.

That's it! Students will be prompted to log in to Rhithm via Google the next time the load Chrome.

Troubleshooting

Extension is not working in ChromeOS 140+

In ChromeOS 140 and higher, Google has changed the way it enforces the Chrome Sync policy, resulting in the Securly extension lacking the necessary permissions to function properly. If extension syncing is not enabled from the Google Admin Console and a student disables sync for extensions from their browser settings, the extension doesn't function properly. To ensure extension syncing is active, follow the below steps: 

1. In Google admin console, navigate to Devices > Chrome > Settings > Users & browsers > Other settings > Chrome Sync (ChromeOS).
   
2. Ensure the ‘Allow Chrome Sync’ configuration is selected.
   
3. Uncheck ‘Extensions’ from the section for excluded sync types to ensure extensions are included in sync.
