Filter - How does setting an Exception Window work?

The ‘Limit Take Home and Parent policies to non-school hours’ setting allows you to apply in-school policies to your students for specified time periods even when they are off-campus.

  • Application of Policies: If you have the Take-home policy or if parents have the Parent Policy set up, then the student will be filtered according to those policies when they are off-campus. However, if you want them to receive an in-school policy instead, you should enable the "Limit Take Home and Parent policies to non-school hours" field in Global Settings. This is particularly useful when schools have not yet opened full-time offline, and students are attending classes online from home.

  • Selecting Days and Times: You can select the days and times when the limitation window should apply. For the selected days and times, the student will receive the in-school policy even if the parent policy or take-home policy is present. For days and time slots not specified here, the parent policy or take-home policy will apply if the student is off-campus.

How to Turn on the Exception Window:

  1. Log in to Filter.
  2. Navigate to Policy Editor.
  3. Go to Global Settings.
  4. Limit Take-home and Parent Policies to non-school hours field.

This will allow you to customize the application of in-school policies for students even when they are off-campus.

How to set your Working Hours:

  1. Navigate to Settings.
  2. Go to General.
  3. Set your school working hours.

Note: This setting will only be present once you have enabled "Set exception window for out of school policies" in your Global settings
