Automatic Device Enrollment (ADE) Failure on Older Devices

What causes older devices to fail MDM enrollment with the “Failed to Receive Profile” error?

In most cases, the device is no longer supported by Apple’s Automatic Device Enrollment (ADE) program because it has reached end-of-life status or is considered obsolete/out of warranty. When this happens, the device cannot properly retrieve the management profile during enrollment.

Please review Apple’s Knowledge Base article for the current list of obsolete and vintage devices to confirm whether the hardware is still eligible for enrollment.
