Google is discontinuing support for Chrome apps that use kiosk mode starting in July 2025, extending through 2028 for some devices with long-term support (LTS) (see this article). You may already be receiving a notification banner in Google Admin.
We have created a replacement for the Securly Classroom Lost Mode kiosk application, which will now run as a web app. Here is how you can make this update so Lost Mode will continue to function.
Set Kiosk Auto-launch to None
In Google Admin Console, navigate to Devices > Chrome > Apps & Extensions and select the OU that you have configured for Lost Mode.
Set the Auto-launch app to None.
Remove the old kiosk app
In the Kiosks tab, remove the old kiosk with the extension ID: jlchfbgflflmmcoeagcmfkhlmbofojbm
Configure the new kiosk app
In Securly Classroom, navigate to Settings > Deployment > Google.
Copy the Chrome Lost Mode URL.
In Google Admin Console, on the Kiosks tab of the OU for lost devices, click the + icon at the bottom right corner and select “Add by URL.”
Paste the URL copied from Securly Classroom and click on SAVE.
The new Lost Mode Kiosk app should appear in your list with the default setting of "Installed."
In addition to the above, in the Auto-Launch Kiosk App Settings, ensure the "Enable Splash Screen Bailout" setting is toggled off to prevent anyone from stopping the lost mode kiosk app from running.
