Flagged Alerts moving to Aware FAQs

As part of the launch of Securly Aware, Flagged Alerts will be moving from Securly Filter to Aware. This change is intended to provide IT teams with the flexibility to assign responsibilities for alert monitoring and management to other staff as needed or desired.

What is Securly Aware?

Securly Auditor is now Securly Aware. Much more than just a name change, Securly Aware is the next evolution in student safety and wellness. Building on the proven AI reporting and alerting of Securly Aware, Aware adds powerful new capabilities for student services and safety teams.

When will these changes take place?

Aware will be available in October 2022. At that time, you will see changes in Filter and Aware as detailed in the following questions. In the meantime, we will be opening up opportunities for pilot Aware customers to beta the new functionality shortly.

How does this affect you if you use Filter only but not Aware?

You will maintain all current Filter functionality. Flagged alerts will be moving from Filter to Aware. You will have access to a lite version of Aware so you’re able to maintain access to flagged activity. This lite version of Aware will be automatically included with your current Filter subscription at no additional cost.

How does this affect you if you use both Filter and Aware?

You will maintain all current functionality. Upon the release of Aware, your previous Auditor instance will automatically become Aware, including an all-new user interface. In Filter, you will no longer see Auditor in the menu bar. All flagged activity will move to Aware and be accessible there. You’ll also get access to new student wellness features in Aware that we think your student services teams will find invaluable. These new features include:

Student Wellness Levels

Know each student’s emotional wellbeing level with color-coded wellness levels.
Wellness levels are an evidence-based tool to help you easily identify at-risk students and respond proactively if levels change for the worse.

Wellness Pathways Widget

When a student’s Wellness Level drops, the student will be presented with a pop-up message containing links to helpful resources defined by you.
You’ll find settings for the Wellness Pathways Widget under Account Settings in the upper left of the new Aware interface.

Think Twice Bullying Intervention

When harmful or threatening language is detected in an email or social post a student is composing, the student will be prompted with a pop-up message encouraging them to reconsider before sending.
You’ll find settings for Think Twice under Account Settings in the upper left of the new Aware interface.

Respond Case Management (add-on)

The Respond case management tool — the same case manager that’s been battle-tested and refined by Securly On-Call expert analysts — is an optional add-on to Aware. When Respond is enabled, each flagged alert that is generated by Aware creates a case in Respond, or appends that alert to an existing case if one exists. Respond makes it easy to assign cases to appropriate staff members. If you are an On-Call customer, you won’t see Respond, as these alerts are managed by the On-Call team.

How does this affect you if you use Securly On-Call?

If you’re a Filter-only customer, you will no longer see 24 in the menu bar in Filter. It will move into the new Aware user interface. If you’re also an Auditor/Aware customer, you will see the On-Call tab available in the new Aware user interface with all of your settings still in place.

If I have Securly On-Call, can I use Respond case management?

Yes! Both On-Call and Respond can work side-by-side. The On-Call team analyzes all cases. In Respond, non-urgent cases are verified and display a badge to indicate that they’ve been verified by On-Call. When the On-Call team identifies an extreme risk, they will deliver notifications to your designated contacts immediately by email and phone/text (just like we do for On-Call-only customers).

This allows you to manage cases with zero false positives, and ensure you always know when a student is in immediate need of support.
