How to pull log reports remotely as an admin

The best way for the Dyknow School Success team to track down an issue or question is to see logs from a student device. If you are a Dyknow school admin with a push tool, you can pull logs remotely in 15 seconds as opposed to tracking down a student in the classroom!

PULL LOG REPORT REMOTELY FROM A WINDOWS/PC DEVICE

1. Use the tool of your choice to remotely run a command on the PC you want to send logs (i.e. PSEXEC, GPO, SCCM, etc.).

2. Target the student device(s) by specifying the username or hostname.

3. Send the following command to the target computer:

"c:\Program Files\DyKnow\Cloud\DyKnowLogSender.exe" -vanity [vanity] -notes "[notes]"

4. Replace [vanity] with your Dyknow vanity (this is the short name that comes after dyknow.me/ in your URL). Replace [notes] with your active support ticket number. If you do not have an active support ticket, include a description of the problem and the time that it occurred.

5. A Dyknow School Success Manager will contact you with the ticket number and feedback.

PULL LOG REPORT REMOTELY FROM A MAC DEVICE

1. Use the tool of your choice to remotely run a script on the Mac you want to send logs (i.e. Filewave, Casper, Airwatch, ARD, etc.)

2. Target the student device(s) by specifying the username or hostname.

3. Send the following command to the target computer:

/Applications/DyKnowLogSender.app/Contents/MacOS/DyKnowLogSender -vanity [vanity] -notes " [notes]"

Replace [vanity] with your Dyknow vanity (this is the short name that comes after dyknow.me/ in your URL). Replace [notes] with your active support ticket number. If you do not have an active support ticket, include a description of the problem and the time that it occurred.

4. A Dyknow School Success Manager will contact you with the ticket number and feedback.
