How does time-based policy work when the student is off-campus?

Time-based policies can be applied to students even when they are off-campus. To do this, you should enable the “Set exception window for out-of-school policies” field in Global Settings. This setting would apply other in-school policies including the kid’s OU policy, Default Policy, or Custom Group policies as well if time-based policies are not applied to the student.

You can then select the days and times when the exception window should apply. This means that for the selected days and times, the student will get time-based policy even if parent policy or take-home policy is present. For days and time slots not specified here, the parent policy or take-home policy will apply if the student is off-campus.

If a policy is set up as a time-based policy and the ‘Exclude from take-home policy’ field is enabled, then the student will not be filtered as per the take-home policy. They will get the time-based policy.

Also, if a policy is set up as a time-based policy and the ‘Disable off-campus filtering’ is turned on, then the student will not be filtered at all, and not get a time-based policy due to this setting. If you want the time-based policy to be applied off-campus and filtering to continue, then ensure that this setting is not turned on.
