How do I allow or block specific YouTube videos and channels?

The updated YouTube settings in Filter let you allow and block specific YouTube videos and channels by simply adding their URLs to the Allow and Block lists. These settings apply to Chromebooks only if the user is NOT logged into YouTube.

To do this,

  1. Log in to Filter and navigate to the policy you want to edit YouTube settings for.
  2. Click on the YouTube tab and go to the Channels tab.  youtubeupdated.png
  3. Enter the complete URL link of the channel you want to allow or block and click the relevant button. To find the YouTube channel link, follow the instructions in this article.
  4. Alternatively, you can go to the Videos tab and enter the complete URL of the video you want to allow or block.
  5. It is also possible to allow or block complete categories of videos in the Categories tab.

The URLs and channels added to the allow or blocklists in this manner will allow or block YouTube videos for users of that policy.

Note that if a user is logged into YouTube, only the YouTube Blocklist rules will apply. Any sites or channels in the YouTube Allow list will be overridden by configurations in Google Workspace.
