Securly Reveal includes circumvention reports that help administrators identify if students are attempting to bypass Securly Filter. Reveal generates two primary levels of reporting:
- District Level Report:
To access this report, go to Custom Reports from the navigation bar on the left. By default “All Schools” will be selected in the dropdown. Look for the circumvention report towards the bottom of the report list. Simply click on it to get your report.
This report breaks down activity by school, category (pornography, drugs, gambling, adult content, social media, etc.), the hours spent, and how many students engaged with the site falling in a specific category. This report is designed to help admins figure out which schools are facing circumvention behavior.
- School Level Report:
At the school level, you get two circumvention reports. Go to Custom Reports and select your school from the dropdown menu.
The first report is the same as the District Level Report but it will just contain info about the selected school. This is primarily intended for teachers, coaches, principals, or staff who do not have access to district-wide reports.
The second report offers a granular view, including the categories, student name and ID, site URL, and hours spent on sites.
Once suspicious activity is identified, admins can take necessary steps to find out how students have made a circumvention attempt and prevent it from happening again. For example:
- If a student is shown to have spent 9 hours on a site categorized under "Network Misuse," you could investigate further into why the student spent so much time there.
- If there is no record of a site which should have been blocked or isn’t in the right category, administrators can inspect the browsing history in Securly Filter to investigate further or request for a change in the site’s category.
