What’s New in MDM 9.8 - October 2024

External API Integration
Securly MDM now supports integration with third-party products via our external API. Systems like inventory management software can now connect to Securly MDM to retrieve lists of enrolled devices and manage device assignments and changes. You can configure API connections in the Settings menu.

Deprecation of Profile Web Links
As of MDM 9.6 (released in July 2024), we introduced the ability to add web links directly to screen layouts. With the release of MDM 9.8, we are removing the feature that allowed adding web links to restriction profiles for displaying them on student screens. The new screen layout feature makes web links more accessible to teachers, who typically don’t have access to edit or apply restriction profiles. This functionality remains in the Classic UI but will not be transferred to the new Nucleus UI.

New Link to Documentation
The help menu now includes a link to the updated MDM documentation for easier access. We’ve refreshed the Securly MDM User Guide to feature updated articles and screenshots to help you learn about Securly MDM and the new Nucleus interface. Check it out!

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where turning off email notifications in My Account wouldn’t always save.
  • Fixed VPP sync failures caused by duplicate users in VPP sync.
  • Fixed a bug where changes to Dock settings in Mac profiles weren’t saving.

End of Life for Classic UI
The option to switch between the Nucleus and Classic UI will be discontinued at the end of the 2024-2025 school year. As of August 1st, 2025, the option to switch to the classic UI will no longer be available.
