This article provides an overview of Securly Sync's data connection options and the concept of data augmentation for specific Securly products.
Overview
Securly Sync simplifies how your school or district integrates with Securly products by managing data exchange between your Student Information System (SIS) and Securly. It improves data consistency, security, and streamlines data management.
Process
To use Securly Sync, administrators will:
- Choose Data Options: Discuss compatible data options with Securly's Implementation Team.
- Configuration: Receive instructions and a secure invitation to configure the data exchange.
- Data Augmentation (if needed): Share additional data specific to Securly products like On-Call and Home (more on this later).
- Confirmation: Receive confirmation that your Securly products are set up.
Post-Setup
- Scheduled Syncs: Securly Sync performs daily syncs based on your chosen connection type.
- Data Change Management: Large or risky data changes are identified and may be delayed (circuit break) for review. Securly Support manages most of this, contacting you only if guidance is needed.
Supported Data Connections
Securly Sync offers various ways to connect your SIS:
- OneRoster API: Connect to any SIS that provides a OneRoster 1.1 API (e.g., Infinite Campus, Skyward, Aeries).
- PowerSchool: Connect via CSV or API.
- OneRoster CSVs: Securly Sync can map files conforming to the OneRoster 1.1 CSV standard.
- Clever CSVs: Securly Sync can map files conforming to the Clever CSV format.
If you encounter difficulties exporting files in an established format, contact Securly's Implementation Team for assistance.
Data Augmentation for On-Call and Home
Securly products like On-Call and Home require additional data fields beyond the standard OneRoster data. In most cases, you'll need to provide a separate data export for these fields. Refer to https://support.securly.com/hc/en-us/articles/25674074353047-Example-Format-for-OnCall-Metadata-Fields-in-Securly-Sync for detailed information on the required format.
Next Steps
- Explore the following articles for specific connection details for each supported method (PowerSchool, Skyward, ClassLink - to be added later).
- Refer to the On-Call/Home metadata field format link if you need to provide additional data augmentation for these products.
