We use a continuously updated database of millions of URLs that are relevant to education—drawing from sources like Alexa's top sites—to determine which sites to log, block, or allow based on your policy setup. We intentionally avoid logging sites that could clutter the audit report (for example, advertisements, CDNs, embedded content URLs, etc.). In fact, our A/B tests comparing full logging to selective logging have shown that listing fewer, more meaningful entries creates a much more usable report, even at a single-user level. That being said, we recognize that our system isn’t perfect, and occasionally we miss sites that should be logged. Such sites are added to our cloud database as soon as they are reported, and we are working proactively to include them—even before admins report the issue.
In addition, please note that Securly Filter predominantly displays external IP addresses to indicate device access to your network. While our DNS logging and Chrome Extension are designed to capture external IP addresses, the SmartPAC feature records both external and internal IPs.
