If you are facing problems with your Dymo printer not printing Visitor badges, follow the steps below to troubleshoot.
Ensure you have the latest drivers installed
Windows: http://www.dymo.com/en-US/dymo-label-software-v873-windows
Mac: http://www.dymo.com/en-US/dymo-label-software-V872-mac
Check if your DYMO web service is up and running
- You should see a DYMO icon in your computer tray and the DYMO web service should be running to help ensure a local connection.
- Click the icon to run a diagnostic check.
- Click 'ok' to open a test page and check the security certificate.
- If you see the above message then you have been successfully connected to your Dymo printer and should be able to print.
- Before printing make sure the blue light on your printer is on and the Dymo is not in sleep mode.
- Run a test print from either Safari, Firefox or Edge browsers. If it works, then try the same with your Chrome browser. You should be able to print successfully.
Fix Chrome Certificates
Dymo released a library with an invalid certificate, which prevents the printer from working. To bypass that, follow these instructions:
- Go to this link in your Google Chrome browser: chrome://flags/#allow-insecure-localhost
- Look for “allow insecure certificates”.
- Click “enable”.
- Restart your computer after you do that.
Confirm communication between your Chrome browser and Dymo Web Service.
Navigate to the following URL:
- DLS >= 8.7.2 - https://127.0.0.1:41951/DYMO/DLS/Printing/Check
- DLS <= 8.7.1 - https://localhost:41951/DYMO/DLS/Printing/Check
- You should see a page with a green success message that reads "Congratulations! DLS Web Service is up and running. You can now print from supported websites."
- If the URL loads a page that makes reference to ERR_SSL_VERSION_INTERFERENCE, this is due to Chrome enabling experimental support for TLS 1.3
- To resolve, open a new tab and go to chrome://flags and search for the TLS 1.3 flag.
- Change the setting from "Default" to "Disabled" and relaunch Chrome when prompted.
- After relaunching, visit https://localhost:41951/DYMO/DLS/Printing/Check again and you should see a success message.
Re-installing Dymo to the computer’s printer settings
In some rare cases, your printer will work for a while and then suddenly stop working. To solve this problem:
- Go to your system’s printer settings page. On Mac, this is called Printers & Scanners (You can search for it on Spotlight Search).
- Remove the Dymo printer, and then unplug your Dymo from your computer. Restart your computer.
- Plug your Dymo printer back in. Navigate back to the printer settings page, and add the printer again.
- Go to Google Chrome and clear your cookies/cache.
If none of the above resolve your issue, then you can send us the DYMO Webservice log file which can contain more information about what's preventing you from printing a label.
