Within Securly there are several types of policy that can be created. This KB will cover the different types of Policies which can be created.

Custom Policies: This is the standard type of policy in Securly used for day to day filtering.
- The 'Default Policy' is a standard Custom Policy which cannot be deleted in your Securly configuration.
- Take Home Policy: This is a policy which is applied off site when traffic from users are coming from unregistered IP addresses.
- Guest Network Policy: This is the policy used to configure the filtering for the Securly Guest Network DNS servers.
- IP Policy: This policy is to filter traffic coming from a specific IP address.
Note that Global settings, IP based policies, and Take-Home Policy are not directly assigned to users or OUs.
Creating a Custom Policy
To create a customized policy:
- Login to your Securly Filter account.
- Navigate to "Policy Editor" and click on "Custom Policy" to create a new policy.

A screen will be displayed where you can select you the policy type you would like to create:

- Custom Policy

IP Policy: Note that if you select the IP policy you will be required to assign it an IP address from the list of IP addresses registered with your filtering instance.

- An IP-based policy takes precedence over user-based policies.
